FlyGirl: A Review

I recently came across the book, FlyGirl,  by accident. With the marvel of technology, without having to leave my seat, with an electronic device at hand, an app and a click, I had  the kindle version of the book ready for the reading. The book description from Amazon starts as follows:

flygirl

When sophomore Jill Townsend hears the hottest senior in school, Robbie Magnor, say he thinks a woman who can fly is sexy, she knows what she must do to catch his eye. As she sets out to become a pilot, she unearths a love for flying and finds she belongs up in the breath-taking sky. She wants to fly more than anything. Up there, she not only has an amazing view of the world and its endless possibilities, but there’s nothing holding her back.

Prepare to keep a chunk of time at hand. Once you start reading it, you might not want to put it down.

The misadventures of Jill might appear a bit extraordinary, and almost surrealistic. One might wonder how she could still continue to pursue this path. When something like this happens, not once but three times. A normal person would have quit by now. Having known someone who was prone to extraordinary misadventures, I am not as skeptical!

But Jill is no ordinary teenager. She has set her sight above the horizon. She is impatient, daring and tenacious. Sometimes too much so. If you are 16 and the world is at your feet, and you consider yourself invincible, then anything and everything is possible. So what, if you have to lie, cheat and maybe even steal?

FlyGirl really is about living the dream and perseverance. Something we all face, at sometime or another. Granted I haven’t faced the same dilemma as Jill, and had more patience then she did, but there are many things I could relate to. See (An Encounter with GlidingFirst Solo or maybe even I do this).

This is a perfect Christmas gift for a teenager, to get her interested in Aviation but also a reminder for all of us about the dream we all dreamed and achieved! One that is important we share.
